Banco Essi, a founding member of Forum Portugal Global

Banco Essi is the investment banking arm of the Grupo Espírito Santo (GES), its main shareholder. Other shareholders ouside the group and the public at large are Union Bank of Switzerland and Kredietbank Luxembourgeoise. Its activities include corporate finance (privatizations, mergers and acquisitions, financial advisory and credit); management, underwriting and placement of issues in the capital markets and syndicated credit market; project finance; foreign exchange and money market transactions.

Since GES took control in 1986, Banco Essi has increased its importance in the market by both growth and innovation. Banco essi is very mindful of the quality of its services and is aware of the different needs of customers. Its integrated service approach focuses on the needs of each client to ensure in each case the attainment of its objectives and needs.

The bank is represented by António Mexia, Member of Executive Board. A graduate of the University of Geneva, he tought for many years international economics at the Catholic University of Portugal and advised the government on foreign investment before becoming vice-president of ICEP in 1987, a position he left in 1990.
